                            RESOLUTION NO. __19849___
                  
                  
                   A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AMNESTY PERIOD
                   DURING THE MONTH OF JUNE, 1993, FOR THE
                   PAYMENT OF ARREARAGES OWED TO CITY COURT,
                   DURING WHICH MONTH OVERDUE FINES AND
                   ARREARAGES MAY BE PAID, WITHOUT INTEREST;
                   AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY
                   AND CITY COURT CLERK TO COLLECT ARREARAGES,
                   PLUS INTEREST, COMMENCING JULY 1, 1993;
                   AUTHORIZING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO ENTER SUCH
                   CONTRACTS FOR THE COLLECTION OF SAID
                   ARREARAGES AS MAY BE NECESSARY, COMMENCING
                   JULY 1, 1993; AND, AUTHORIZING THE HIRING OF
                   TEMPORARY PERSONNEL AND INCURRING OF
                   ADDITIONAL EXPENSES.

       	    	 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
       CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That there be and is hereby declared an
       amnesty period during the month of June, 1993, for the payment of 

       arrearages owed to City Court, during which month overdue fines
       and arrearages may be paid without interest; and
       	    	 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City Attorney and City
       Court Clerk be and are hereby authorized and directed to collect
       arrearages plus interest commencing July 1, 1993;
       	    	 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City Attorney be and is
       hereby authorized to enter such contracts for the collection of
       said arrearages as may be necessary, commencing July 1, 1993; and

       	    	 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City Court Clerk be and
       is hereby authorized to hire temporary personnel to cover the
       additional workload; and to incur such further expenses as may be 

       reasonably necessary to accomplish the purposes of this program.
